About 6 years ago, I had this idea that I thought sounded super fun. “I’ll organize an Urban Adventure Race for the whole town.” My enthusiasm waned though and the event never happened.
But now I’ve refreshed the idea and made it bigger and better! I introduce you to the Family Scavenger Race!
Western Loudoun County has lots of families, but not a lot of family activities. (Unless you count going to a winery or brewery because we have lots of those!) I wanted to put together an event that the whole family could participate in. Plus, the family scavenger race is a unique change from the typical 5 & 10Ks.
D.C. has similar events and I thought to myself – we could bring that to Loudoun! I’m sure the community will be excited to support this event!
So I’ve started all the behind the scenes prep work. Like creating a website and Facebook page.
Family Scavenger Race
All the details are available on the website, but here are the basics:
- Saturday, September 7, 2019 @ Dragon Hops Brewery in Purcellville, VA
- Families will go on foot around Purcellville completing various challenges
- The event is part photo hunt, part trivia contest, part physical challenge
- Family Scavenger Race benefits the Loudoun Abused Women’s Shelter (LAWS)
